DIFICULDADES NO RACIOCÍNIO DE MECANISMOS CAUSAIS EM QUÍMICA: EFEITO MPEMBA

Resumo
Este estudo descreve a análise das explicações dadas por alunos de um programa de formação de professores sobre o efeito do Mpemba. A experiência foi apresentada em três momentos (antes, durante e depois), com a participação de 37 alunos do 8º semestre do curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Naturais de uma universidade colombiana. Observou-se que os alunos respondem por que e não como ocorre o fenômeno e associam suas respostas a conceitos como fluxo de calor, cinética molecular e mudança de estado do material. O exposto acima destaca a necessidade de praticar o raciocínio sobre mecanismos causais em química, um aspecto que pode ajudar os alunos a entender as interações moleculares.
