Longitudinal dynamic modulus determined through ultrasound in three angiosperm solid and laminated woods
Main Article Content
Abstract
Purpose: To determine the dynamic modulus through ultrasound in Enterolobium cyclocarpum, Tabebuia rosea and Juglans pyriformis wooden specimens.
Methodology: 35 solid wood and 35 laminated wood specimens were prepared in order to determine their moisture content, apparent densities, ultrasound speeds and dynamic modules.
Results: The magnitudes are different between the two types of specimens. For both solid and laminated wood from E. cyclocarpum. T. rosea and J. pyriformis, apparent densities increase but ultrasound speeds decrease.
Limitations: Results are limited to the case study for E. cyclocarpum, T. rosea and J. pyriformis woods. The conclusions refer to the experimental conditions detailed in this investigation.
Findings: The dynamic modules of the laminated wood increase in comparison to the parameters of E. cyclocarpum and T. rosea solid woods but decrease for J. pyriformis.
