The main purpose of this paper is to achieve knowledge about the perception of body image in classical dance female students in relation to the presence or absence of eating disorders. Different tests were applied to 70 subjects of the Dance School, National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico City. The dance students were in average 13 years old; 27.3% of them were diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. Both groups showed body shape dissatisfaction and strong motivation toward thinness; they were over-concerned about their weight and body shape. A body image disturbance indicated by self estimation of some of their body parts was also founded. Similar researches on groups without the pressure for a specific morphology are needed.
