This paper recognizes that research on the relationships between society and health has focused primarily on group differences. Epistemologically, homogeneity within groups is assumed, and consequently within group variability and its determinants has been overlooked. Hence, from the point of view of the differential appropriation of the same territory, and using age, weight, height and place of residence of 773 boys and girls between 4.5 and 5.5. yearold, students of public kindergardens of Milpa Alta, Mexico City, Mexico, it is demonstrated that there is variability within the group not determined by place of residence.
