Abstract

To Pierre Bordieu, social space is conformed by a set of relative possible positions of individuals and collectivities may occupy, which resembles a social topology. On these multiplanar space researchers have symbolic and cultural capital (because they are viewed as the knownledgable ones) position that confer them the right to cosify and manipulate «the other» to carry out research. Besides, the «other» usually are members of subordinated groups with respect to the researcher’s. Hence, they lack symbolic and cultural capital. This establishes a relationship of dominance-subordination between the researcher and its «objects of research», with ethic and pedagogic implications pointed out in this contribution.
