Abstract

The etiology of maxillofacial trauma is diverse, however accidents and height falls have been described as the main causes. There are many structures of the craniofacial skeleton that could be affected, depending on different factors, such as magnitude and direction of the impact and also its intensity. In the anatomic maxillofacial region, condylar fractures are the second most prevalent after nasal fractures. A good anamnesis and an adequate clinical examination, would direct us to have a presumptive diagnosis of condylar fracture and to evaluate it with images. Opportune diagnosis and treatment are basic in prevention of after effects.
