Abstract

Retrospective study of 48 patients in treatment with oral anticoagulants requiring oral surgery. Each patient was required to undergo preoperative assessment of prothrombin time. The suspension of the oral anticoagulant two days and the acetylsalicylic acid 7 days, before the surgery was indicated. Sutures were used in all patients as a local haemostasis method. There were no bleedings detected or other complications among the patients. This study presents a review of different protocols for managing patients under oral anticoagulant therapy requiring oral surgery.
