Fibroma Oscificante: reporte de un caso
Main Article Content
Abstract
Various processes exist that have been classified as fibro-osseous lesions in which we can find fibrous dysplasia, sclerosing osteomyelitis and ossifying fibroma or cementifying fibroma. These entities present a vascular fibroblastic stroma and produce a calcificated matrix that extends from the bone and the cementum. The central ossifying fibroma (cementifying fibroma, cement ossifying fibroma) is characterized by presenting a deformed growth and an increased volume, of slow evolution with a higher incidence in the mandible and can provoke teeth displacement. In the image examination, it appears like a radiolucent and unilocular area, presenting diverse shades of radiopacity, being radiopaque in rare occasions. We present a case of central ossifying fibroma in a 13 year old male patient located in the posterior left region of the maxilla. We report clinic data, imaging and histopathologic findings of this lesion as well as its treatment.
