Since 1895 when Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the Xray, recording his wife’s X-ray, there have been made many advances. Henri Becquerel, Marie and Pierre Curie, Antoine Béclère, are other researchers who contributed to achieve what we know today as radiotherapy. The objective of this work is to present the management of irradiated patients with head and neck cancer, from the vision of the dentist specialized in Maxillofacial Prosthetics. The case of a radiated patient underwent to a conventional dental treatment, which later evolve in necrosis of bone known as osteoradionecrosis is presented. The monitoring of more than 3 years, allows presenting some information and proposals to establish as part of the cancer treatment protocols in our population, based on the literature review. It is emphasized the importance of timely intervention in the multidisciplinary groups, installing stomatologic strategies before, during and after the application of ionizing radiation and the need to disclose the characteristics and indications that these patients have, for a dental care that can not be considered conventional.
