Abstract

The organizations of women peasants are subject to cacique-like forms of political control and manipulation. Concurrently there is a reduced identity among its members and their permanence, as a group, is at risk due to the lack of diversified and autonomous projects. This study approaches the idea that the organizations of women peasants are confronted by two-pronged logic: the political control and the growing self-valoration of women's participation in the solution of social needs and poverty. Among the topics reviewed are the ways in which they organize themselves, the traits of the organizations of women peasants, their demands and claims and their main obstacles and alternatives.
