Abstract

This paper intends to evaluate how the Mayan-Tojolabales /1one of the 30 surviving Mayan communities— interpreted mother earth, especially how they felt about the idea of territory. A good grasp of current definitions of territory will help us understand better how the Mayans, particularly Tojolabal, felt about it.
