Abstract
The development of urbanization and industrialization in Mexico during the Porfiriato changed the economic and social dynamics of the country by incorporating women into the world of salaried workers. The cigarmaker’s union faced inhumane working conditions and social prejudices that they managed to overcome by unit[1]ing and fighting for better opportunities, forever modifying the image of the urban working woman.
