Abstract

In 2015, the National Network for Gender Equity in Higher Education Institutions agreed to establish the mainstreaming and institutionalization of gender. This establishes a pertinent context for the purpose of the present article, which aims to analyze the composition by gender of school registration in the bachelor’s level of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi. Statistical analysis of a descriptive type with a gender perspective was conducted. Data obtained from institutional yearbooks of the school periods 2004- 2005 through 2013-2014 were utilized. Results show that female enrollment has steadily incremented in school registration. The gap between genders is more distinguishable within the schools and faculties in the capital and there is greater female presence in other university campuses. The female ratio in majors from the exact sciences and technology is superior to that of males in socio-administrative areas. Females integrate themselves equitably or even in a greater manner in comparison to males in the hybrid majors.
