Abstract

The incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in companies is considered to be a tool to stimulate the competitiveness across the formation and accumulation of knowledge to generate innovations. The effect of investment in ICT is not linear, since it depends on the environmental conditions as well as of the internal capacities of the companies. In regards to Mexico, the incorporation of this technology in companies has not been reflected in an increase of competitiveness; hence, in this paper, the aim is to analyze the conditions of use of ICT in MSMEs in a region of Mexico, through a survey applied to 1,006 companies in the state of Aguascalientes which concludes that sub-utilization and deficient use of available technological tools is presented, and is reflected in a limited incorporation in the productive activities as consequence of the scanty formation of specific capacities for the management and production.
