Abstract

Violence is an old phenomenon which has been increasing and manifesting in different social environments and which has been affecting the life of children and adolescents. In Mexico, studies on violence have been focused at school level thus initiating actions for its attention. In this study, we have developed and implemented an interactive software that addresses violence among secondary school students and which allows, amongst others things, the identification of the adolescents’ role concerning violence; observer, aggressor or victim. 25 students from an official high school participated and qualitative analysis of the results was performed using Atlas Ti showing the ignorance that actors have about the role that unfolds before violence within the school either from the perpetrator, from the recipient or from the one that observes it. The results show a predominance of the role of spectator with 52%, 32% as aggressors and 16% as victims. The software shows its benefits as an efficacious tool in approaching the phenomenon of violence in adolescents.
