The university environment as a factor in knowledge transfer through business incubators
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a conceptual framework to analyze the efforts that universities make in the commercialization of research and its application in a specific case. The research strategy for the empirical analysis was based on a case study. Primary data was collected through personal interviews to the business incubator staff and a survey to entrepreneurs between March and December 2010. One of the findings is that the ITESM has directed its policies and organizational structures towards commercialization of research that is reflected in the number of patent applications in the emerging areas. However, the results obtained in the creation of research-based companies are very distant from the cases that internationally have inspired these structures within the university.
