Is there an ideal size which is efficient for the reseach centers?

Abstract
This paper argues that current productivity metrics in the activity of science and technology are not the most suitable. However, is a fact that these same criteria, with all the criticism that can be, are being applied to various estimates about the quality of the scientific production, both individually and collectively, thereby not suitable abstract from touching this topic. The evidence can support the claim that, it is possible to find optimal sizes efficient research center. The results indicate that there is no single optimal size, but several optimal sizes depending on the environment in which the activity of science and technology is developed in an institution. It is concluded that the challenge is to find –collectively– a way of influencing, within the current estimation, to enhance appreciation to Researchers activity and promote better policies and assessment criteria.
