Systematic literature review on gamification in production environments
Main Article Content
Abstract
Purpose: To conduct a systematic literature review on existing lines of research, as well as to identify study limitations and main contributions that have been developed regarding the concept of gamification applied to production environments that would allow proposing relevant future scientific studies.
Methodological design: Five research questions and four quality criteria were defined based on Kitchenham's systematic literature review methodology; The Scopus database was chosen as the main source for a keyword query and a bibliometric analysis ensued using a specific tool that allowed the development of a discussion of the results obtained.
Results: Three main concepts which are in development stages within production environments were identified: Operator 4.0, Gamification for Manufacturing (GfM) and the application of hmi (Human Machine Interaction) systems, in addition to an important contribution in German affiliations for their relevance in the creation and dissemination of the Industry 4.0 concept.
Research limitations: Using a single data source (Scopus) and omitting other scientific databases are considered to be limitations within this systematic literature review.
Findings: 37 out of 162 papers related to diverse kinds of studies, theoretical, experimental and frameworks on gamification in production environments, were categorized. 64% concluded with promoting longer explorations on the concept in authentic areas within the industry.
