The purpose of this paper is to assess the growth rhythm and morphological characters of children living in the Madrid prisons of Carabanchel and Soto del Real. We have compared the means of the anthropometrical data of these children with those of spanish children, taking in account the environmental factors that may have affected them. One of such factors was having a mother addicted to drugs, which influenced the children’s body mass index, and the circumferences of the head , hip and abdomen. We also took in account the menus fed to these children and found them to be excessive in fat, and with small deficits in iron, some vitamins and carbohydrates. We discuss their possible role on these children’s growth.
