Abstract

In this article by means of which the results of the investigation developed of the pictograph of El Higuerón, located near the city of San Juan de Pasto (Colombia), are presented; such territories were, in prehispanic times, occupied by the ethnic group of Quillacingas, from whom the way the early settlers of the Valley of Atriz were able to know the coming of summer season can be deduced. This was achieved by the study of the effects of light and shadow projected onto the rock art in the moments close to the June solstice.
