Abstract

This paper presents the results of the analysis of a relief located in the volcanic zone close to the town of Amecameca in the State of México. Interpretations of the petroglyphs by authors such as Palacios (1951). Kriegeberg (1969) and Dupaix (1978) are discussed, and a new explication based on ethnoarchaeological sources as well the event commemorated by the relief is provided.
A careful analysis of each of the components of the relief followed
bv the interpretation of the whole indicate that the monument
