Chronicle of a Forgotten Space: Public Parks and the New Subdivisions of Modernity in Monterrey (1945-1963)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article addresses the dissemination of the modern suburb in the area of mid-20th Century Monterrey, Nuevo León, which was associated with the debate in the local press on the lack of green space in the city. It explores whether contemporary print media provided a characteristic vision of Monterrey modernity, concluding that the supply of lots and modern homes with all services reveals the population's socioeconomic divisions. It can be inferred that the broken promise of local governments during this period was that of creating public parks.
