Determinación de prioridades en las áreas de conservación para los mamíferos terrestres de México, empleando criterios biogeográficos

Abstract

PATTERNS OF SPATIAL RICHNESS AND ENDEMICITY OF DISTRIBUTION OF MEXICAN TERRESTRIAL MAMMALS WERE ANALYZED TO PROPONE PRIORITIES IN THEIR CONSERVATION AREAS. 'AREAS NATURALES PROTEGIDA'S (ANP) AND 'REGIONES TERRESTRES PRIORITARIA'S (RTP) WERE CONTRASTED WITH AREAS WITH LOW KNOWLEDGE, AREAS WITH HIGH RICHNESS OF SPECIES, AREAS OF ENDEMICITY, AND OCURRENCE AREAS OF ENDANGERED SPECIES OF NATIVE TERRESTRIAL MAMMALS, OBTAINED FROM DATA OF SCIENTIFIC COLLECTION SPECIMENS AND LITERATURE. THE PRIORIZATION OF 57 AREAS (21 ANP AND 36 RTP), ALLOW CONSERVE HIGH RICHNESS AREAS AND FIVE AREAS OF ENDEMICITY THAT CONTAIN ENDANGERED CHARACTERISTIC AND ENDEMIC SPECIES. ALSO, I PROPOSED TO CREATE AN AREA OF CONSERVATION FOR ONE ECOREGION WITH CHARACTERISTIC SPECIES, NOT INCLUDED IN ANY ANP AND RTP.
