Comparison of psychological effects between direct and indirect victims of violent crimes who claim compensation for psychological damage
Main Article Content
Abstract
Violent crime in Mexico, unfortunately, is a constant, based on the literature, two types of victims are identified, direct (DV) and indirect (VI). A study was conducted comparing the results obtained from different assessment tests used for forensic purposes, the MMPI-2-RF, EGEP-5, SIMS and CIT of a sample of 35 people. The results indicate statistically and clinically significant differences in the MMPI Suicidal Ideation Scale (ISU) and in the CIT Avoidance Scale (EVI), which indicates for this study that VIs scored higher in suicidal ideation while DVs scored higher in the avoidance of stimuli associated with the crime they experienced. It is recommended to expand the sample to identify and/or increase the differences, with the intention of giving a more appropriate compensation to the affectations experienced according to the type of victim.
