Relationship between Functionality and Quality of life of Elderly People

Abstract
The objective of the research was to know the relationship between functionality and quality of life of elderly people. Due to the increase in the population of this age group and the impact this may have on different aspects. It is a cross-sectional, correlational study. The study involved 100 elderly people with an age range of 60-80 years (M=71.6, S.D.=6.91). They voluntarily answered the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale (IADL) and the Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF). Pearson’s product moment correlation was used for data analysis. The results show positive and significant correlations between functionality and quality of life factors, the highest correlation of the four quality of life factors was physical health with functionality. Thus, it is important to promote physical activity, as well as to foster a culture of greater prevention and self-care.
