Abstract

Impression management strategies allow individuals to control the information they project to others, create desired identities and reach goals. These implications have attracted an academic interest that has turned into extensive research to this issue. Nevertheless, there is no consensus among the factors involved in the use of these strategies. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between impression management strategies and: self-esteem, identity, discrimination and subjective wellbeing. The results support previous findings as the main predictors of defensive strategies on the negative affect, the absence of positive self-esteem and social identity. On the other hand, there were previous findings on assertive strategies towards discrimination, social identity, absence of positive self-esteem, negative affect and positive affect.
