Detection of hyperglycemia and risk factors in the Delegación Iztapalapa

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus type II is one of the most common illness in the world and one of the most frequent in our country. The aim of this study was to identify hyperglycemia incidence as well as risk factors in people older than 20 years old. An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional survey was carried out. The data collection was conducted through a type III survey. The instrument evaluated family history of diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, personal habits and BMI. The information was captured in Excel and processed in SPSS version 21.0. 528 people were surveyed, 69 had hyperglycemia in fast, 72% don´t do physical activity, 68% presents obesity; the age and the BMI was correlated statistically with the high glucose levels (p <0.01). Hyperglycemia detection allows early identification of the presence of risk factors. In this study, the population was found to present a high risk of developing diabetes mellitus.
