Abstract

Pediatric congenital heart disease (CHD) can affect the quality of life of the children, in the physical, social and emotional aspects. The objective of this research was to describe the Quality of Life Profile (QL) of hospitalized pediatric patients with CHD. An intentional sample of 80 patients were selected. The Questionnaire Specific Quality of Life for Children with Congenital Heart Disease (Aparicio et al. 2010) was used. It was found that perceived health was reported by patients as “good” (45%); with difficulty for practicing sport (61%); school attendance was “good” (61%) as well as learning (44%); 75% reported auonomy to perform routine activities; social support eas perceived as “very good” (75%); extremely anxious status were reported (64%) due to hospitalization and separation from their parents; Interested in knowing their disease (90%); report not to know any aspects of the disease (79%). We conclude that children with CHD perceive unaffected their quality of life, except in activities involving physical activities and sports.
