Abstract

Introduction: An overview is presented as an intellectual exercise articulation of some components about the development trends that have occurred in the area of health and as international organizations have discussed the need to define new approaches and establish priorities for higher education.
Aim: To review the trends that has been presented in the training of professionals in the field of health.
Methodology: In this paper we set out to do a review of globalization and its impact on higher education, later were reviewed theoretical and conceptual aspects such as clinical knowledge, learning in different streams such as situational, problem-based learning, transdisciplinary learning, competency-based training, transverse elements, and how has been done the training in practice; all with current challenges in schools for integrate the curriculum.
Conclusions: In all the trends of the development of clinical skills in students is formed based on the confrontation of the clinical problems, the assimilation of the forms and action of professionals who have a dual mission: act as role models and provide feedback to the learner in the way they act.
