Abstract

The article is divided into five sections: in the first, the author makes some analytical and conceptual clarifications; then, he addresses the issue of Latin America and globalization in order to indicate the stages of this process in the region. Thirdly, it refers to the effects of globalization, first in the world and certainly in Latin America, to continue in the fourth paragraph listing the consequences of the same in different regions, and finally concludes throwing some perspectives the future of the region within the globalization process. The author analyzes the economic performance of the region in recent decades and highlights the strongest features of the reforms introduced since the guidelines established by developed countries and international agencies, noting that the social costs have been high and suggesting some courses of action considered to compensate the negative impacts of globalization on Latin American States.
