Abstract
Ectodermal dysplasia is an inherited group of disorders that present lack or absence of ectodermic tissue, thus this affects: skin, hair, nails, teeth, sebaceous, sweat, pituitary and mammary glands, as well as the central nervous system and the sensory epithelium of the ears, nose and eyes. The present review focuses on the description of oral rehabilitation using adhesive bonded full-resin composite crowns as an aesthetic approach to treating hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia in a 3-year-old male child. The patient demonstrated the classical clinic manifestations of ectodermal dysplasia. Oral examination presented healthy oral mucosa and gingiva, normal palate and saliva. Primary teeth were complete and presented conoid superior and inferior incisors. The 3M Z250 composite resin crowns were selected for this procedure. Due to the cooperative attitude of the patient and the easy handling of material, they were placed during three sessions, succeeding in the aesthetical results, as well as in the good retention and the excellent rehabilitation of teeth functions. Marginal gingival adjustment did not presented any complications. Bonded fullresin composite crowns demonstrated to be an efficient treatment for this kind of patient, as they need early attention in order to accomplish accurate language development skills and appropriate chew functions, as well as a better social adaptation.
