Abstract

Civic Journalism is an answer to the "bad practices of journalism". A new form of engagement with the people, the community, and the public is arising with Civic Journalism, There is an interactive relation between the press and the citizens.

Jan Schaffer, The Institute for Interactive Journalism, Washington D. C., USA

After obtaining the degree of Master of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 1972, told The Philadelphia Inquirer, where his work earned her several awards, including the Pulitzer was integrated.
In 1994 he ignores the journalism that had exercised, to engage in reform movement journalism and promote areas such as civic, interactive, participatory journalism and citizen. He currently serves as executive director of J-Lab, The Institute for Interactive Journalism, a project that began in 2002 at the College of Journalism at the University of Maryland and later became the successor to the Pew Center for Civic Journalism. jans@j-lab.org
