Abstract

This article shows the impossibility of translating events, just as they occur in reality, to journalistic accounts. In order to do this, it compares the sequence of events in history with those of journalistic texts. Time in history is pluri-dimensional; in contrast, journalistic account is lineal. Anacronies are used in journalistic accounts not only because the lineal character of language demands it in order to express the pluri-dimensionality of what happens in history, but also because through them journalistic accounts explain and contextualize events. The analysis of temporal order in journalistic accounts makes evident the manipulation, which the narrator realizes when reconstructing reality.
