Abstract

This article discusses the contemporary struggle between the two main conceptions in the field of journalistic activities: journalism devoted to facts and critical journalism. In a globalized world, in which new technologies dominate the scene, the warning of frontiers, the new forms of exacerbated nationalism and the universalization of regional experiences, all seem to favor a predominance of the view that supports a journalism of facts. The old positivist idea in which objectivity is located within the facts has taken on a new vitality by assimilating the resources made available by the “new journalism" and their advocates. Nevertheless, critical journalism is gaining more and more every day, from the theoretical arsenal in order to become the demystifying alternative.
