Abstract

This article analyzes the role played by the so called género negro (black genre, gloomy literature) in the Chilean narrative, as an indirect way of disclosing and condemming past events in the recent history of this country. It reflects in particular on the critical approach, which is implicit in this narrative, and on the reconstruction undertaken on the basis of criminal topics of the political and social conflicts of Chile during dictatorship and its aftermath.
