Diversificación productiva y transformación estructural en México: estudios de caso de tres regiones

Abstract
Se usa el enfoque conceptual de la transformación estructural para estudiar tres procesos dedesarrollo regional en México. Se examinan los efectos que tienen los procesos de liberalizacióneconómica y el crecimiento económico sobre la economía rural en esas regiones. Se concluyeque las familias rurales enfrentan las oportunidades y peligros generados por esos procesosdiversificando sus actividades y sus fuentes de ingresos en terrenos no agrícolas. Los éxitos ylimitaciones de esta estrategia dependen de sus recursos y del tipo de transformación estructuralde las regiones donde viven. La modernización fincada en la liberalización económica generabeneficios para algunos sectores rurales pero conserva el carácter dual de la economía rural yla pobreza continua en el campo.
