Exportaciones, tipo de cambio y enfermedad holandesa: el caso peruano

Abstract
La mayor parte de las monedas de los países latinoamericanos se encuentra en un proceso de apreciación respecto del dólar americano, su referente tradicional. Este fenómeno sólo se interrumpió brevemente entre septiembre de 2008 y el primer cuatrimestre de 2009, como consecuencia del agravamiento de la reciente crisis financiera internacional. La depreciación de la divisa norteamericana es un fenómeno resultado de los desequilibrios en la balanza en cuenta corriente, fiscal y monetaria de esa economía, pero que viene de tiempo atrás con raíces más profundas. Asimismo, contribuye a este proceso de apreciación de las monedas latinoamericanas la mejora de los términos de intercambio y, en general, el positivo desempeño exportador de nuestros países. Ocampo (2007) agrega que la mayor participación de nuestro continente en los mercados financieros y de capital internacionales juega también un papel importante en explicar esta situación.
