Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determinate the effect of a program of therapeutic intervention through the use of biodanza in a group of psychology students of a public university in Lima, that presented high and medium levels of anxiety. The sample of study was initially constituted by 55 people, but because of control factors (inclusion - exclusion criteria), it was reduced to 48 young people from both sexes between 18 and 23 years old, all of them students from the second and third year of psychology and from the different regions of Peru. They answered the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory – STAI (IDARE in Spanish) by Spielberger, both the test and post test. They took a program of therapeutic intervention, which consisted in eight planned sessions of exercises about biodanza, all of them given by a professional in an environment conditioned for these classes. The results were the following: decrease at 0.05 in high and medium level of anxiety in twenty two (22) students from both sexes. This means that in 46% of the presented cases, the biodanza program was efficient in the reduction of the initial anxiety.
