Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate in a sample of 691
university students who had had sex, several variables related with the condom use and determine the differences between men and women. The information about pattern of sexual behavior included: age of first sexual experience, lifetime sexual partners, frequency of sex in the last three months, condom use, frequency of condom use in the last three months, last protected sex and, planning and place of the first intercourse. Also, it was evaluated the consistent in the used condom considering the DiClemente & Wingood´s (1995) proposal like proportion of intercourses protected, 4 kind of sexual practices and condom use it. The results show that men are in more risk of contracting HIV/AIDS if is only to considered the pattern of sexual behavior and the kind of sexual practice, however, the women have a pattern of sexual behavior less risky but they show more inconsistency in condom use. The results are discussed in the context for design programs of prevention the VIH/SIDA specifically to men and university women.
