Abstract
The publication of scientific articles that treats eating disorders (ED) has increased in recent years. A significant increase can be attributed to different factors which includes new, more selective and specialized publications. Increasing research examines the concerns of body image and other associated behaviors, also including an addition research about various ethnic groups, as Hispanics, Asians and Europeans. This paper is a review conducted to 136 articles published in 67 international magazines. The article covers a selection made between 2004 and 2008, which was as a result of a literature review and furthermore formed the basis for the development of an I+D project. The project "TV Advertising and other sociocultural factors influencing ED. Pilot study and international expert panel "(2006-2010). The authors were part of the group. Conclusions of our study of the articles mentioned are the existence of a widespread tendency of the media’s influence on the ED. Also most of the publications analyze mostly young women, which have a greater impact toward eating disorders than young men. It was further noted that the researchers detected the symptoms in always younger groups (kids).
