Abstract
The essay presents an analytical reflection on the motivations and objectives that gave rise to the plan of the subject General Theory of the State in the academic programs of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the unam. Through this presentation the author takes us by the hand through its thematic construction, consolidation and transformation over the years in which it has been present for study in this academic entity. Finally, it proposes several reasons to consider it as a subject of great importance for the training of the future professional of Political Science.
