Abstract

This article argues that two of the most important currents of contemporary political philosophy, when taken together, leads to a double bind situation (Gregory Bateson). The different and, to a certain extent, opposing political views of Giorgio Agamben and Ernesto Laclau will be analysed to validate our hypothesis. The seeming conflict of opinions can only be resolved if we comprehend
that the thesis of each philosopher corresponds to a different level of analysis: ontological (Agamben) and ontic (Laclau).
