Abstract

The study of the existing relationship between art and power is fairly recent. Specific examples of the Conquest, the Baroque and the Neo-Classicism can show insight the support of those who hold power towards artists and their creation. But there can also be repression or rejection. On the contrary, art can also serve to validate and support the official status of people with power, which might also be criticized by society.
