Abstract

Recent critics about the decline of political parties in democratic societies as a result of problems related with its performance to the new challenges and attitudes of the electorate are exaggerated because other studies show parties are still relevant in democracy. The Mexican experience of democratization process confirms this pont of view even in critical situations like the last presidential election.
