The sociology on the horizon of Anthropocene

Abstract

This essay discusses the position of the sociology in the current context of socio-environmental crisis. With a starting point of a large delimitation of sociology of risk, this text explores one of his ramifications, the sociology of disaster risk, in wich one the sense problems raise by the comprehensive model of the world, denominated “Anthropocene” by the Earth Sciences. Into the formulation of this model, the disasters and risk are key issues on which the sociology has developed an important substantial amount of knowledge. It advances toward a reflective definition of the discipline’s objective, for highlighting the validity and wealth of the sociology in the contemporary science.
