Montemayor: between the dreaminess, death and gnosticism in some stories of Las llaves de Urgell and Cuentos gnósticos

Abstract

The present essay is an analysis of thems such as death, reverie and fate on the stories “De Caelo et Inferno”, “El regreso” and “La muerte de Tsin Pau” from the book of Las llaves de Urgell. Also, I analyze the allegories of fall and redemption, aspects of religiosity, spirituality and revelation present on the stories “Persecución de demonios”, “Canto”, “Monodia” y “Danza” from Cuentos gnósticos. The rhetorical and literary analysis are based from the study of images, metaphors, symbols, themes and myths from the René Wellek and Austin Warren’s book Teoría literaria; and an approximation to the main principles of the gnostic ideology accord with Serge Hutin in his book Los gnósticos.
