World Obesity Day 2023

Abstract
World Obesity Day is celebrated since 2020 on March 4. It is a day that aims to address the global epidemic of obesity that is experienced, for the year 2023, the campaign to carry out this commemoration, took as its motto “Changing perspectives: Let’s talk about obesity”. Several international organizations joined this campaign, including the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization itself, thus increasing the visualization of actions aimed at promoting the implementation of strategies to stop the increase in overweight and obesity. In this article, a brief review is made of the characteristics and actions that have been taken for the prevention and attention of overweight and obesity, from the implementation of the World Obesity Day, ranging from the promotion of breastfeeding, the improvement of nutrition and the promotion of physical activity in educational centers, to the management of public policy proposals and the development and implementation of actions for health promotion, surveillance, research and evaluation.
