Covid-19 and obesity: an overview

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization, a first case of acute respiratory infection, of unknown origin, appeared in the province of Hubei, China, in the city of Wuhan in December 2019. After calling other etiological agents, the isolation of a new coronavirus, which was called new coronavirus (COV, COVID-19), currently named as SARS-CoV-2. This new virus is the cause of the disease called COVID-19, which causes respiratory symptoms that can vary from a mild condition to a severe acute respiratory syndrome, this mainly in populations at risk such as children, older adults, immunosuppressed people and people with comorbidities such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases, hence the importance of the population in Mexico being informed, since in our country there is a high rate of these pathologies.
