La pandemia, la tragedia y el viaje al interior del animal cosmopolítico

Abstract

In this essay, I argue that the current pandemic is reminiscent of an ancient tragedy. Not only because in both cases, the individuals involved seem doomed to confront death, suffering, and helplessness before uncontrollable forces. But also, because the current situation could unchain a thought process that ends in a revelation (anagnorisis, in Aristotelian language) that provides us with the necessary lucidity to appreciate the gravity of the current pandemic fully, but which at the same time would enable us to start an authentic inquiry into the desirable post-pandemic scenarios.
