Factors that impact the academic performance of students at the Technological University of Puebla (UTP) in the face of current social changes
Main Article Content
Abstract
Starting in 2020, Mexico, like the rest of the world, experienced significant events triggered by the health crisis that impacted all levels of education, forcing the suspension of face-to-face academic activities. This situation forced all educational institutions to implement a contingency plan established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); which gave rise to the implementation of distance education, making necessary the use of virtual platforms not only as repositories but also as indispensable tools for teaching classes with synchronous or asynchronous sessions.
This situation forced teachers to develop new innovative teaching and learning strategies aimed at meeting the objectives initially set. The objective of this research is to identify the factors that impacted the academic performance of students at the Technological University of
Puebla, based on social changes. The methodology used for the development of this research was through a survey applied to the students of the Technological University of Puebla, through the Google Forms® platform. The results showed that, despite being unprepared to face this situation, teachers and students quickly adapted to the new demands of this model, adjusting to new working methods. However, the conclusions indicate that, although the students obtained an improvement in their grades, their school performance was negatively affected, since there was no significant learning.
